The Art of Being

Child & Family Photography by Perception Studio

Whether you’re planning a generational portrait, an immediate family session, or simply want updated photos of the kids, all families are welcome here—at every age and stage.

No matter what your family looks like, or how unpredictable the day may be, I’m here to capture the real moments unfolding during our time together.

What to Expect…

Families aren’t looking for perfect pictures, they’re looking for a photographer who can handle real life. They want someone who embraces the chaos, can connect with every personality, and captures the genuine moments happening, not just the perfectly posed shots. They want an easy, guided experience from start to finish, timeless images that feel like art rather than snapshots. Most of all, they want the confidence that no matter how the day unfolds, their story will be beautifully documented, never feeling like a waste of time or money. And that’s exactly what I deliver.

You’ll have guidance every step of the way - from choosing your location and outfits to selecting your final prints. And if decision-making isn’t your thing, don’t worry. I’m more than happy to step in with my artistic eye and help bring the entire vision to life.

FAQS

  • Your session experience fee is due at the time of booking. Nothing else is due until your order is placed.

  • I understand that life can be unpredictable—kids get sick, and unforeseen circumstances arise. To accommodate these situations, you can change your session date one time without any additional charge.

Should it be necessary to reschedule for a second time, a $50 cancellation fee will be applied to rebook a new time.

  • Sessions can be done in studio, or an outdoor location we choose together. I can recommend spots based on lighting, scenery, your family’s personality, and the look you want. I do not offer in-home photography sessions.‍ ‍Studio sessions are limited to a max of 5-6 people.

  • Sessions typically last 30-45 minutes. With large groups or certain locations, the session may last up to an hour.

  • If the weather isn’t cooperating, we simply reschedule at no extra cost. I keep flexible backup dates open for this reason.

  • No worries - this is completely normal! I guide the session with patience, games, and prompts to help kids loosen up. Candid moments often become favorite photos anyways.

  • This varies by session type, but I always deliver the best images that tell the full story - never limiting your gallery just to hit a specific number. Most sessions yield 30-50 images to make selections from.

  • Gallery delivery typically takes 2-3 weeks, with a little bit of grace needed if you schedule during busy season (October-December).

  • Never. Pets are always welcome - they’re family members, too!

  • I take a lot of pride in my editing process. Every single photo is reviewed and edited by hand - no batching, no AI shortcuts. Standard edits include color toning and skin retouching, but my goal is to deliver a strong, cohesive set of images. So if that means doing multiple head swaps or removing distracting background elements, I’m happy to do it - at no extra cost. Heavily composited images, braces, and glasses glare removal are some of the few editing services that are subject to additional charges.

  • There’s nothing more uncomfortable than standing with a group of people in front of a camera and feeling like you have to perform. I’ll never leave you wondering what to do. While I love using prompts to create natural interactions, I won’t hesitate to step in when something isn’t working. I’ll guide minor adjustments to help create dynamic compositions and flattering angles-so you always feel confident and look your best.
